The influence of Rock music on the Turkish music scene quickly gave way to a combination style of rock music and Anatolian folk elements, named specifically Anatolian Rock. Moğollar, as early as 1960's, were the leaders in Anatolian Rock.
From mid 1960s to mid 1970s, Erkin Koray's music exemplified a new style in Anatolian Rock music. In the recent decades, rock music's popularity gave way to a much larger diversification in the rock music arena. Classic names include Moğollar, Erkin Koray, Cem Karaca, but newer voices have gained tremendous popularity
such as Mor ve Ötesi.
